A history of entertaining at the White House from Adams to the Johnson administration. It takes the reader to state dinners, receptions, luncheons and other parties, and tells little known events about these parties and the people who attended them. It also describes table settings and decorations. For the hostess who wants to give extra flair and significance to her entertaining, it gives menus and recipes that were served by the Presidents and First Ladies. Some of the chapters include; The Madison Era, Pace Setting Parties, Hospitality of Old Hickory, Revolutionary Roosevelts, Hoover-Style Hospitality, The Lively LBJ's.

By Marie Smith. Published by Acropolis Books, Washington, D.C., 1967. Stated First Edition. Black & white and color photographs. 320 pages. Hard cover with pictorial dust jacket. Book appears to be unread, as it is a very tight copy. Dust jacket has some chips on the edges and is now protected in a Mylar cover. Owner's signature on the inside page. A nice copy of this book.
