Exquisite two-piece serving dish from the Ritz Carlton Hotel, dating 1926-27. A fancy finial graces the top, and the Ritz lion logo on the lid. The base of the casserole measures about 9-1/2" by 7", and 1-3/4" high. It has a bright sparkling patina. Including the lid it measures 4-1/2" tall. Overall excellent condition with light light dines and scratches. The lid does not fit perfectly in the dish. Manufactured by L. Barth & Son.
L. Barth & Son was founded in 1868 in New York and distributed china, silver and other hotel supplies until it merged with Albert Pick & Co in 1926. Given that information, and the first Ritz Carlton opening in Boston in 1927, this is probably from the Boston Ritz.
A lovely piece!
