Stunning antique Italian scallop-shaped box acquired from an old estate in San Francisco. The owner had a large collection of Italian items from her travels.
This box is quite unusual. Made of wood, it has cloth overlay with intricate hand woven ribbon on the top and sides. There are also decorative metal "findings" on the top. Two small ones are missing. The gold trim you see in the photos is actually metal as well, as is the key hole. Beautiful faded colors.
The box measures 8-1/4" long, 3-1/2" tall and 6" wide. The base is footed. A stunning and unique piece!
