Beautiful 1930's Dutch laurel leaf award wreath which I believe is solid silver. Laurel leaves were used in France, Holland and Belgium to award people for their achievements or services, as our trophies do. There were wreaths and sprays of leaves hung on doors and pinned on clothing. Many of them were actually engraved with the name and date, and some of them were solid silver as this one is.
This wreath is made up of bay leaves. The engraving on the bow is in Flemish. It is dated 1934. It measures 7" tall by 5-1/2" wide. Nice condition with light tarnishing; beautiful keepsake.
