This is one of the most charming oil paintings I've ever seen. Acquired in Paris, this small gentleman portrait is painted on what feels like board. The detail is striking. It is signed in the lower left hand corner, but is very faint. The wooden gilt frame measures 5-1/4" by 4-1/2." There is an easel back. The wooden frame has some small chips and touch-ups.
This is truly lovely in person. Dates to the late 19th century.
