Beautiful and incredibly hard-to-find pair of candleholders from the luxury Palace Hotel in San Francisco. This set includes the extender/lamp shades. Typically, a hotel did not use wax candles as we do, but used either electric or gas to give an illuminating effect to their tabletops. I'm not sure the workings of these extenders, but they are quite lovely to look at. They can be removed and used as candlesticks (that's what I do.) If you scroll down you can see photos with candles in them.
They are in excellent condition with a gleaming bright patina. The extender does have some plate loss, but the candlesticks are superb.
They measure 16-1/2" tall to the top of the shade. The candleholder itself measures 7" tall by 4-1/2" long, by 3-3/4" deep. Each is marked, "Palace Hotel Manufactured by Reed & Barton." The date symbol is 1947.
