HUGE Vintage Fairmont Hotel, S.F. Fish Platter 23"
Photos don't capture the scale of this rare early 1900's fish platter from the Fairmont Hotel atop San Francisco's Nob Hill. Large hotel silver serving platters are difficult to come by and this is a beauty. It measures 23-1/2" long, 12" wide and approx. 1-1/2" deep. It certainly can be used for any kind of serving even though its original use was for fish. It has been professionally polished and has a bright shiny patina with some utensil scratches in the center. It has a pretty "Reed & Leaf" mount which is the rim of the platter. Bottom markings, "Reed & Barton Fairmont Hotel." A very special piece of hotel silver!
