The Face of the World An International Scrapbook of People and Places is perhaps the most attractive of all of Beaton's autobiographical writings. 'Face of the World' features photographic portraits of his contemporary luminaries, such as Kenneth Clark, Pewter Quennell, Edward Sackville-West, Isak Dinesen, Nancy Mitford, and a host of other international names from the world of letters, theatre, politics and the arts. There are also his sketches and photo-documentary images from the set of 'My Fair Lady', images of Ashcombe, his home, and from his travels as a fashion photographer. Numerous photographs, including portraits of Sir Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, Joan Crawford, Audrey Hepburn, Karen Blixen, Camus, Sartre, Picasso etc.

Large size book, 240 pages. Published by the Weidenfeld and Nicolson, London. First edition, 1957 date not stated. Pages are printed on different colored paper stock. Hard cover with colorful dust jacket. Some small tears on the top edge of the dust jacket, now protected in a Mylar cover. Beautiful, clean tight copy.
