Lovely detailed mustard pot from the Central Hotel, Paarl, South Africa. Renowned for its illustrious and haunting scenic beauty, Paarl (meaning Pearl in Dutch) is the third oldest European settlement in the Republic of South Africa.
The mustard jar has its original glass insert. It measures approx. 2-1/2" tall and 3" to the end of the handle. The front has a detailed crest and reads, "CENTRAL HOTEL PAARL." I don't believe this hotel is still in existence. This piece probably dates to the early 1900's. Manufactured by Gladwin Ltd. Sheffield.
