Monumental 1899 Art Nouveau 18" Golf Trophy
This extraordinary tall 1890s Art Nouveau silver plate golf trophy vase was acquired from a San Francisco estate.
The trophy is quite stately and has a beautiful Nouveau motif on the base. The top has lovely floral and ribbon openwork that is on all sides of the trophy. Front of the trophy has a large raised crest in brass that reads, "Connecticut Golf Association 1899". The trophy is engraved, "BEST 18 HOLES NET".
It has polished up beautifully. It was heavily tarnished and now has a pristine patina with no dents or dings. A tiny bit of silver wear on one side. It measures 18" tall and the top is 4-3/4" by 4-3/4". Manufactured by Meriden.
A simply amazing golf trophy!
