1940s African American Woman Oil on Board
Striking 1940s African American young woman impressionist oil portrait painting on board by artist, Ludwik Adam Smialdowski (1894-1975) of New Jersey. Portraits depicting people of color are quite rare and hard to come by.
This bright and colorful painting is beautifully executed. The subject is quite pretty.
The wooden frame measures 26-1/2" tall by 21" wide by 1-3/4" deep. Painting is signed and dated 1941 in lower left hand corner. It is in superb condition. The back of the painting has stickers and shows that it this was a part of an art exhibit.
A really lovely painting.
Our portrait paintings are featured in the November 2019 issue of Country Living magazine.
