Early 19th C. French Sailboats Oil Painting by Ernest Prouvost, Ornate Carved Frame

Photos don't do justice to this wonderful c. 1840s oil on canvas is by listed French artist, Ernest Prouvost (1783-1850).

The painting features sailboats with a pleasing color palette. The carved wooden frame is amazing. It has intricately carved leaves and it quite thick and chunky.

The painting itself measures 14" by 9". The frame measures 18" wide by 12-1/2" tall and 1-3/4" deep.There are some cracks in the joints of the frame commensurate with age. This piece of artwork is early Victorian and amazing that it's still in excellent condition. Signed by the artist.
