19th C. French Ship Oil Painting, Gesso Frame

Simply beautiful 19th century French seascape oil painting on canvas featuring sailors on ships.

The painting has a pleasing color palette and is wonderfully executed. It is housed in an ornate gilt gesso frame with a carved floral motif.

The exquisite frame measures 16-3/4" by 13-1/2", and is in excellent condition. The painting has a repair which isn't detected on the painting itself. Light crazing commensurate with age. Unsigned.

This painting probably dates to 1870-1880. It's quite special in person and sure to enhance your gallery wall.
