19th C. Holland House Hotel, NYC Samovar
This scarce antique silver plate samovar is from the elegant old Holland House Hotel in New York City and dates to 1891. It was acquired from a long-time collector of rare hotel, railroad and steamship silver pieces.
To read quite an interesting history of the Holland House, please click here. It even shows a photo of the exact samovar!!
This spectacular stately 4-piece samovar is in superb condition. It has all the bells and whistles-- a fancy crest on the front, ornate rims, spout, lid and handles.
It measures 15" tall and 8-3/4" in diameter. It is quite heavy, weighing over 6 pounds!
Lovely condition with a bright, shiny patina. Some areas of plate wear throughout where you can see the base metal shining through. Amazing condition considering that's its 128 years old. Sparkling clean interior.
Manufactured by Gorham with date symbol of 1891. Piece is stamped, "H.M. Kinsley & Baumann 1891". Kinsley and Baumann were the owners of this New York establishment, which is detailed in the link above.
A truly gorgeous piece of antique hotel silver that makes an elegant serving piece. Would look amazing on a sideboard or a treasured spot in your home!
