Antique Hotel Manhattan, New York Dish, Bowl & Ashtray Set
This pretty antique set is from from the Manhattan Hotel in New York City. The Hotel Manhattan was a US "railroad hotel" located on the northwest corner of Madison Avenue and 42nd Street in New York City. It was built in 1895-96.
The set consists of a fancy small silver plate serving tray, sugar bowl and glass ashtray. The tray measures 8" by 6-3/4" and is 1" deep. It has a gorgeous, ornate rim. The sugar bowl measures 4-1/2" long by 3-1/4" wide and 2" tall. It also has a beautiful rim. Both silver plate pieces have a stunning, bright patina and are in superb condition. They date to the turn of the 19th century. I've attached an image of the old hotel.
The glass ashtray comes along with the set and bears the hotel's name. It measures 3-1/2" square. Excellent condition.
The silver plate pieces were manufactured by Reed & Barton and stamped, "Hotel Manhattan". Again, they date to the late 19th century. Amazing condition for pieces this old.
Such a beautiful set to start a hotel silver collection or add to an existing one!
