Antique Snow Scene Oil Painting, Louis Apol, Dutch 1850-1936
Stunning antique scenic winter oil landscape painting by Lodewijk Frederik Hendrik. 'Louis' Apol (1850-1936) was a Dutch painter and one of the most prominent representatives of the Hague School. Apol was widely known for his winter landscapes and built up his reputation as an award-winning winter painter and received various awards. King William III, for example, gave him the 'Knight's Cross of the Oak Crown.'
This beautifully executed painting is on panel and and is quite ethereal with fine detail. It's housed and matted in a gesso wooden frame and signed by Apol in the lower left hand corner.
The frame measures 15-1/8" by 11-1/2" by 1-1/8" deep. Excellent condition.
Quite a gorgeous painting by a fine, well-known artist!
