Giuseppe Gambogi 19th C. Italian Marble Child Statue, Signed
An absolutely stunning 19th century alabaster statue of a child by Italian sculptor, Giuseppe Gambogi (1862-1938).
Gambogi was an Italian impressionist and modern sculptor. He was born in Pisa and worked in Florence. Many works created by him were made for the foreign market and some of them are kept in the museum of Dantesco in Ravenna.
This spectacular statue features a child holding colored grapes. The carving is so detailed and exquisite. It measures 15" tall by 7" wide and 5-3/4" deep. It is signed on the back by Gambogi.
The statue is quite heavy, weighing over 16 pounds. It's in superb condition with no noticeable marble loss.
An absolutely beautiful antique piece!
