Ornate Antique 1800s 9K Gold Enamel & Pearl Mourning Brooch
Beautiful example of a Victorian mourning brooch, dating to the last quarter of the 19th century.
During the Victorian era these mementos were painstakingly handcrafted. Transforming locks of hair into a remembrance of the dearly departed was an act of utmost devotion.
The brooch is 9K gold with black enamel and stunning ornate detail. The center of the pin has a hair design under glass and is surrounded by seed pearls.
This large-sized brooch measures 1.60" wide by 1.35" tall and is .37" deep. Total weight is 15.5 grams. It is secured by an early "C" safety clasp. There is also a bale if you wish to wear as a pendant.
I fancy a grouping of mourning brooches on a lapel to definitely catch attention and be truly unique!
