Pair of Biltmore & Roosevelt Hotels, New York City Candlesticks
A fine pair of vintage silver plate candlesticks--one from the Biltmore Hotel, and the other from the Roosevelt Hotel, both in New York City. The New York Biltmore Hotel was a luxury hotel in New York City that opened in 1913. It was one of three palatial hotels built as part of the Terminal City development around Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. The others were the Commodore Hotel (currently Grand Hyatt New York), and the Roosevelt Hotel.
This heavy pair of candlesticks measure 7-1/2" tall and the bases are 4-1/4" in diameter. Nice patina with light scratches and small dings commensurate with age. One is stamped, "Biltmore", and the other, "Roosevelt". Both are made by Haber & Sons and are identical.
Fun pair of early hotel candlesticks!
