Rare Antique Plaza Hotel, New York City Double Crested Serving Dish
This early 1900s extra-large silver plated serving dish/bowl is from the legendary Plaza Hotel in New York City.
The earlier pieces of Plaza Hotel silver beared a raised double P crest. This piece has that desirable crest on either side.
The dish measures 12-1/2" in diameter and is approx. 1-1/2" deep. It has a sparkling patina with no silver loss, but does have some noticeable scratches on the interior from years of use. If you are looking for perfection, this is not the piece for you. I personally don't mind scratches on any of my pieces of silver, as I prefer the original patina, as opposed to having pieces re-silvered.
This would look lovely holding citrus fruit, or perfect for a fancy serving piece or centerpiece. There are no manufacturer's mark on the base. The have most likely worn off from years of use.
This piece is truly a show-stopper in person, and early Plaza Hotel silver is highly rare and sought after!
