Rare Large Antique French Sectional Vitrine Casket Box
This extraordinary and rare compartmented beveled glass vitrine is French and dates to the 19th century, circa 1870. It was acquired from an antique dealer's estate in San Francisco.
The lidded casket box opens on dual sides of the top. It has a beautiful metal handle which is quite rare. One of the sides of the box opens to reveal a brass pocket watch holder. The interior has a beige silk tufted lining, which has some wear. The top of the box has lovely engraving under the handle.
All eight thick glass panels of this genuine antique casket are heavily beveled adding to the sheer opulence of this piece.
The box measures 5-1/2" wide by 3" tall by 3" deep including the feet.
Beautiful condition. One very small chip to the corner glass on one of the compartments, and another really tiny chip to one of the other compartments.
This gorgeous French antique vitrine is perfect for storing your favorite jewelry or portrait miniatures. It's truly stunning in person!
