Rare Mid Century Italian Seguso Art Glass Candy Striped Murano Caged Glass Pendant Light
Quite rare mid century Italian Seguso Murano glass candy-striped pendant light. I've had this in my home for several years, and never seen another one like it. It dates to the 1950s.
The caged glass light is pre-blown in a cage and has the most beautiful candy striped colors of red, green, yellow, blue pale lilac and white. It is so very whimsical and could fit into any decor from mid century modern to traditional.
The glass fixture itself measures 12-1/2" tall by approx. 9-1/2" wide. It rests in a black metal frame that forms circular bubble designs around the light.
The fixture has its original wiring and is in working order. The top opens up to hold a single 40-60 watt bulb. Possibly a 75 watt, but I'm always learey of the glass.
The glass lid/top has a vertical crack which is depicted in the second to last photo. The condition is reflected in the price. Because the glass is encased in a cage, it's not likely to break. The rest of the lamp has no chips or cracks. There is a small amount of rust on the frame. Very little though.
There is an additional 14" of fancy metal ceiling chain that is original to the fixture. Comes with a ceiling cap.
This is by far one of the most fabulous pieces of Murano glass that I've ever acquired. Truly a statement piece to spruce up any decor!
