Rare Victorian Monogrammed French Ivorine Locket w/ Original Hand Painted Cameo Portrait
Wonderful large Victorian French ivorine monogrammed locket accompanied by a hand painted porcelain cameo plaque of the woman whose photo is in the locket! Quite a unique duo acquired from an old estate.
The large locket has a fabulous early monogram on the front which makes it really unique. It measures 2-3/4" tall to the top of the bale by 1-5/8" wide and a bit over 1/2" thick. It opens to hold two photos.
The sepia photo in the locket is the same woman depicted on the porcelain cameo. There is one small piece of glass inside in the locket. The opening for the photos is approx. 1-1/2" by 1-1/4".
The porcelain portrait cameo measures 2-1/4" tall by 2" wide and is stamped, "I.E. Figel", most likely the artist. It is such a unique piece that it could be easily framed and worn as a pendant or brooch. Or matted and set in a picture frame.
The locket is in excellent condition with a small crack on the clasp, but still perfect to wear on a pretty ribbon or chain.
Such a unique and fabulous Victorian set!
