Rare Vintage Christofle Hotel Bretagne, Greece Covered Serving Dish
Extremely rare vintage Christofle large covered silver plate handled dish/bowl from the 4 star Hotel Grande Bretagne, in Athens, Greece.
Built in 1842, The Bretagne has accommodated over 40 kings, queens and heads of state. This is where most international leaders stay to this day. The magnificent hotel still exists today and maintains its high standards of elegance and luxury, as the gourmet food is served with fine porcelain and crystal and nineteenth century gold silverware.
The extraordinary piece has the hotel's logo and crest on the lid and front of the bowl. The finial is a fancy acorn, and the handles are ornate.
It measures 9" from handle to handle. The bowl itself is 6" in diameter. It stands 3-3/4" tall to the top of the finial.
The piece has been professionally polished and has a gleaming bright patina. Quite a heavy and solid piece.
Manufactured by Christofle with the manufacturers name on the base. Dates to c. 1930s. Also, date marks on the lid.
This is an extremely grand piece to add to your hotel silver collection!
