Rare Vintage Christofle Hotel Continental, Paris Covered Serving Dish
Extremely rare vintage Christofle large covered silver plate handled dish/bowl from the 4 star Hotel Continental in Paris, France, now known as The Westin Paris – Vendôme. Located at 3 rue de Castiglione on the corner of the rue de Rivoli, facing the Tuileries Garden, the Continental opened in April 1878. It was designed by Henri Blondel, and was intended to be the most luxurious hotel in Paris at the time.
The hotel was renamed the Inter-Continental Paris in 1969, and then became The Westin Paris in 2005, adding the suffix Vendôme to its name in 2010.
This gorgeous piece is quite large in person. It has fancy scalloped handles. The top has a logo that reads, "Intercontinental Hotels". The bowl/dish has a "HC" logo for Hotel Continental.
It measures 9-3/4" from handle to handle. The bowl itself is 6-1/2" in diameter and stands 5" tall to the top of the handle.
Superb condition with a gorgeous patina. Manufactured by Christofle and stamped, "HOTEL CONTINENTAL PARIS" on the base.
This bowl/dish is a great serving piece for just about anything. Or just as a gorgeous piece for your collection of hotel silver.
Really extraordinary pieces from one of the finest Parisian hotels!
