Scarce copy of this beautiful book, The Eighteenth Century: Its Institutions, Customs and Costumes. France 1700-1789. Written by Paul Lacroix Illustrated with 21 chromolithographs and 351 wood engravings. Many full page plates in color -- still vivid.  Tissue protectors for color plates are still in tact.

This beautiful leather-bound hardcover has an ornate cover decorated in gold design, both front, back and spine. 489 pages. Book measures 10-1/2" by 7-1/2".

Published 1876 by Chapman and Hall, Piccadilly, London. First edition.

This rare book is a sturdy binding, and just s small area of leather loss on the spine. It was a book withdrawn at some point from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston with the plate inside.
