Unique Victorian R Blackinton & Co. Silver Hand-Chased Hand Mirror
Stunning unique-shaped Victorian Blackinton & Company sterling silver hand mirror with beveled glass. The mirror was made by R. Blackinton & Company, founded in 1862 by Walter Ballou and Roswell Blackinton in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. Blackinton was recognized for the skill of its silversmiths and produced a variety of pieces including flatware and hollowware along with gold and silver jewelry. This was acquired from a San Francisco estate.
The extremely ornate and elegant hand-chased design features a shield surround by lions. It has a triple hand-engraved monogram on the top. The stunning motif is on handle and back as well.
It measures 8-3/4" long by 6-1/8" wide and 1-1/4" thick. The top of the mirror is puffy, giving it a gorgeous effect.
Made by R. Blackinton & Company, with a 1904 patent date. Fully hallmarked.
Mirror is in superb condition with only a small blemish on the glass. Silver is bright and shiny with no dents or dings.
