Vintage Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills China & Silverplate Teapot
Incredibly rare 1950s silver plate and porcelain teapot from the historic Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
The Beverly Wilshire is located at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, it was completed in 1928. It has been used as a shooting location for films (Pretty Women) and television series. Guests have included U.S. presidents and celebrities.
The handle is stamped Beverly Wilshire. The lid of the pot is stamped Kirkeby Hotels, for which Arnold Kirkeby was the owner. The Kirkeby Hotels empire began in the Chicago, Illinois, with the legendary Drake Hotel. He also operated the Warwick in New York, and Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana.
The teapot is a beautiful milky ivory color. It measures 5" tall and 6-1/4" from handle to spout. Size is 1 pint. Perfect for serving an individual cup of tea.
Condition is superb. Manufacturer's glaze chip under the spout.
Porcelain is manufactured by Hall. The silver plate is manufactured by International Silver Company and dates to 1954.
The porcelain and silver hotel pieces are incredibly hard to acquire. This is an amazing find for any hotel silver collector!
