1920s Planter's Hotel, Chicago Teapot
A wonderful piece of Chicago history, this silver plated 1920s teapot is from the Planters Hotel, Chicago.
The hotel opened in 1911 at Clark and Madison Streets in Chicago's loop. Once a fashionable downtown hotel known for its restaurant and lively nightlife, the Planters remained a Chicago fixture for more than six decades before closing in 1973-1974. We've attached an image of an old postcard to see the exterior of the hotel. It's not included with the teapot.
The pot bears the hotel's name and has a lovely patina. The interior is clean for an individual serving of tea.
The pot measures 5-1/4" tall and 6-1/2" from handle to spout. Manufactured by Gorham. Date symbol is 1921.
A wonderful teapot for your collection!
