Rare Antique Occupational Shaving Mug for a Horse Breeder

A wonderful Victorian hand painted occupational mug featuring a horse and the owner's name in gilt. This would have been for a horse breeder.

Back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when a gentleman needed a shave, he would visit his local barbershop, where the barber kept each customer's shaving mug, inscribed with his name and often decorated with an image related to his occupation, in a cabinet.

The mug is porcelain and in superb condition. A wee bit of wear of the gilt on the base.

It measures 4" tall and 4-3/4" wide with the handle.

This piece is great for the collector of these mugs or a horse enthusiast.
