Rare 1880s Hotel del Coronado 9" Shell-Shaped Serving Tray

Incredibly rare c. 1880s silver plate shell-shaped serving dish from the famous Hotel del Coronado.

The Hotel del Coronado, also known as The Del and Hotel Del, is a historic beachfront hotel in the city of Coronado. When the hotel opened in 1888, it was the largest resort hotel in the world. It has hosted presidents, royalty, and celebrities, and been featured in numerous films and books.

This quite rare serving piece can be used for serving seafood or just about anything.

It rests on 4 feet and has fancy scalloping. It measures 9" by 8-3/4" and is approx. 1-1/4" deep.

It is in pristine condition with a sparkling patina. Manufactured by Gorham and stamped, "H. del C"., and dated 1886, prior to the hotel's opening.

This is an extraordinarily collectible piece for the Hotel del Coronado collector, and simply a fantastic, quality piece of hotel silver.
