Set of 6 Antique Glass Brooding Nesting Eggs

Lovely set of six 19th century hand-blown milk glass brooding or nesting eggs. These were put in young hens nests to encourage them to lay eggs. These fake eggs tricked them into nesting and made it easier for farmers to collect their unbroken eggs.

The delightful eggs make a beautiful arrangement. They are all hand blown and have pontils on the bottom. They are the size of a chicken egg and measure approx. 2-1/2" long. They are in excellent condition.

A collectible and delightful set of brooding eggs!
